once there was dawson

if i had this blog when i was in high school, my tuesday entries would definitely be about Dawson's Creek. before One Tree Hill, before The OC, i was dead crazy about this show. the moment i saw the teaser plug in studio 23 where the tag line was about falling in love with your childhood guy best friend, i knew i had to watch it. i was a sucker for those kinds of plots (well...until now). i remember raving about it to my mom. i even begged her to sit with me while waiting for the show's plug on tv for her to see it. This is the first series where my mom and dad really allowed me to have my prime tv time where they didn't ask me to do errands or any what-have-yous. every monday, homework should be done by 7:45 and nobody disturbs me between 8 to 9pm.

lalo kong na feel na teenager na ako nung nanonood ako ng dawson's creek. it became a habit to talk about that week's episode with my classmates every tuesday morning. what's our kilig scene, our kilig line, and what we learned from each episode. maybe it was my frustration on how it would be like having a guy bestfriend why i found the show fascinating. plus i can finally have something to talk about with my classmates. i remember them having different preferences on everything, except only for this one.

it's been years since i last saw this show. but i did not finish all the seasons. i only watched it 'til it's fifth season and the final episode of its last season. i don't know, but the show did had it's saturation point where i got tired of its story line.

i can't really remember any particular episode as a whole. but one of my favorite episodes was when pacey bought a wall for joey. she's having trouble about her art that pacey believes that this is the thing that she loves to do the most. joey's already loosing her identity that she finds it hard to paint even a single simple picture because of her issues with her family, and pacey himself. dito nabuo yung joey-pacey loveteam. pacey decided to buy a wall for joey for her to paint on. parang in denial pa si joey sa feelings nya for pacey kaya ayaw na nun pintahan yung wall. kasi dawson might get hurt, if she doesn't confess to pacey, he'll be leaving her, blah blah blah... the kilig part was when pacey ask joey to ask him to stay. ewan ko, pero whenever i remember that scene, may kilig factor talaga e. if i could just watch that episode again.

i asked my friend nina if she happens to know where i can get copies of dawson's creek dvds, and whaddayaknow, meron daw sa ruins sa bf homes paraƱaque. then my happiness didn't end there, olive, my officemate, lives near the place so i asked her a big big favor if she can ask about it for me and she agreed. i love life!

on a deeper sense, dawson's creek somewhat taught me to how cope up with the pressure when i was a teen. watching it made me realize that friendship is really something someone should treasure and believe in. during those times, i don't really had that much faith in friendships and having friends. and somehow it taught me to believe that the one you're looking for might be the one that's right in front of you. you just have to look closer for you to see it.

braces / thoughts about church

kagagaling ko lang sa dentist, nilagay na yung brackets ko sa upper anchor. i was a bit giggly when my dentist was putting the brackets one by one. i got excited. wala lang.

i'm going to mass in a couple of minutes, which reminds me of the sharing about a certain priest by my brother zyrene yesterday. something negative, which is not really good to hear about a PRIEST. then while i was in my dentist's clinic, i overheard someone commented: "nakakatamad nang mag simba dito sa atin..."

i can't blame them really. i know, i know, no one's perfect. but get a grip! nawawalan na ng amor ang mga tao sa simbahan dito, na nakakalungkot minsan isipin. diba?

there are a lot of things i don't somehow understand nowadays about priests. i miss our former parish priests when i was in elementary and highschool.

have to go to mass now...

groggy friday

i was reading john mayer's post today about a letter he got from a fan who happens to be his neighbor. and that reminded me of my old neighborhood in darangan where the houses were only separated by three-step wide streets. houses we're literaly divided by thin walls. everyone knows everybody.

it has been a habbit of mine to read mr. mayer's blog lately. i've been a fan since his first album. i admire his spontaneity and coolness reflected on his entries. what's great about it is he updates it often and he also posts pictures and other visual stuff in some of the entries.

oh, last wednesday i went to asian hospital in alabang with some of my officemates to donate blood for ms. maidette's husband (hope he's well now). i was rejected since i was underweight. we had a few snaps while waiting at the reception area of the hospital's blood bank.

i feel a bit groggy today since i arrived home super late last night. 12mn to be exact. the fact that i left makati around 6:30 makes it absurd. the bulk of the travel was when we passed by angono. the town was celebrating their annual fiesta and we got stuck there for more than two hours! plus the dust, smoke and the loud jeepney stereo (where they played jologs remix versions of jon bon jovi's hits) added to the exhaustion. work was not that tiring, but the travel was. instead of the daily two-hour travel going home, i spent almost six hours!

joey texted me earlier yesterday asking if i was going to Mall of Asia for the burn magazine launch. sana nagpunta na lang ako do'n at hindi nasayang ang oras na nakaupo lang sa jeep. hale and the rest of our friends were there. i just saw some pictures in don's multiply site. i miss them!

i didn't have dinner last night because i can't even lift a finger. but yesterday was all good.

have i been so sun shiny lately? no offense but it's great that i am that way. it's just that it was only yesterday when someone commented that i am always happy that i was now aware of it. i always was the whiner, the one who sees the world twisted.

i'm healing ♥

of bestfriends, grey's anatomy and that famous three rounds

i miss my bestfriend. both of us have been so busy with our respective jobs and we rarely see each other. we are so busy that we don't even exchange text messages (errr...walang load lagi?? haha!). i went to their house last saturday to catch up on what's happening to our dear lives before heading to my dentist. she was asleep when i arrived. i chatted with her mom and cuddled her niece for a while.

my bestfriend woke up an hour later then i joined her for a quick late lunch. she even thought it was a sunday since i always drop by her house every sunday.

we talked about work; the gruelling late night hospital shifts she was assigned to these past two months, "aswang na nga ako e..." she muttered. i told her she lost some pounds, she explained that she often skip meals. then she continued sharing that she often have wee-morning snacks. i shared that i needed a costume for our company christmas party and asked for costume suggestions.

we talked about her lovelife; how she always pass by her boyfriend's house after her shift and him preparing breakfast for her. sweet!
she asked about mine; how's my heart and if there was someone new.

we talked for only about an hour then i left immediately since she has to prep up for her shift in a couple of hours.

i guess i have to wait for another weekend to see peng again.

********
my saturday and sunday is all about grey's anatomy. i'm done with first season, finished up to episode 6 of season 2. except, of course, for an hour of tv yesterday for manny pacquiao's amazing fight! pacquiao is just unbelievable. i'm not really a fan of boxing but witnessing him beat the hell out of morales in just three rounds is something.

CONGRATULATIONS PACMAN!

admit one 5th anniversary

friday night was great. admit one's the best!

it really was my fault i went to elbow room alone that night. i sent late text messages so everyone had their own plans. plus hale's not replying if their playing. i was actually having second thoughts while riding the bus going to ortigas. but i recalled how i enjoyed admit one's anniv party last year. that was what convinced me to push through with the gig. it'll just be about me enjoying the music.

chicosci was playing when i entered the venue. i saw carlos taƱada of up dharma down. i decided to go out for a while. then i bumped in to his bandmate, paul yap. i smiled at him, he gave me a "teka-kilala-'ko-to-ah" look and smiled back. i stayed outside the bar and checked out the stores nearby.

then i saw gracie, pepper and migs. i asked them if i can join them for a while. locomotiv was playing. i misunderstood the hosts and thought that they're taking back sunday. familiar faces came in the bar as the night progress. then i bumped into liza and sofie of DWLSfm. i knew liza will be there because of...of...uhm...secret, hehe ;p so i joined them the rest of the evening. the three of us went to icebergs for a while because sofie's hungry and craves for ice cream. imago was playing when we went back to elbow room. we stayed on the right side of the stage. after imago, radio active sago project rocked the stage. it was a fun set, especially when they played "alcohol". dicta license was the next band. pochoy is such a darling! his dimples are so cute. and i love when he sings on stage because of his ENERGY! i will definitely buy their album on the 15th. then sugarfree played next.

after sugarfree, the three of us decided to sit down for a while. we enjoyed cambio's music while lounging on one of the bar's sofa. liza and sofie intriduced me to alan, also a dj in LSFM. he was cool. he invited us in the VIP area. we stayed there for a while. got to chat with raims (dicta's manager), and saw pochoy, mark abaya, maps academia and raimund marasigan up close. the dawn was playing while we were inside the VIP area. i suddenly jumped and went out when i heard them playing their classic hit "enveloped ideas". everyone, including artists, were singing ang jumping with the band while they're playing one of their celebrated hits. after the dawn was hale. i went out for a while afte their set. there were a couple of halers outside elbow room. and it was already 1am.

the three remaining bands who performed after hale were my favorite that night. this is where i actually enjoyed the night and jumped while singing along. pedicab is just a blessing to OPM. i loved this band since i first watch them and listen to their music in fete dela musique in 2005. diego mapa is such a character! then urbandub was next. first of summer was definitely the common song of everyone that night. it was like we're all reliving the music video of the song since all of us jumped with the band.

sandwich closed the night and played the longest set. it was amazing because everyone was partying and jumping and singing. before i left, i asked miro of stone free for a photo op. we chatted earlier that night about her sister simone whom i was acquianted with. i left elbow room past 3am.

yes, that's the first name of richard dean anderson's popular character from the hit tv series. richard dean anderson's poster has been on our wall since time in memorial because my folks were avid vieweres of the show, especially my dad who even had a haircut like the one richard had on the picture. a vivid memory i had about it was i often find myself sitting in the middle of mama and papa in the couch watching it while eating siopao, which was papa's saturday pasalubong.

not james. last week, i was watching 5th season episodes of the series with my parents at home. i asked my mom what macgyver's first name was, and that name was the one she remembered. then i texted sheldon about mcgyver's name that he mentioned before and told that it was james because my mom said so.

sheldon's reply: Hindi Nemesis (which was the name i recalled he said). Menemis

definitely not menemis. sheldon got me there! we've had a debate about what macgyver's real name was over the phone before. he said it was menemis, menemis macgyver. kanina ko lang na-gets while having lunch with my officemates na menemis is really for "my-name-is"... "menemis macgyver". corny sobra! pero naniwala ako dun ha, hehe.

monday strata

reaching ortigas in less than thirty minutes during rush hour was a miracle. and i had one yesterday.

going to the rx concert series yesterday was a last minute decision. i knew about it two weeks ago but was not decided to go 'til four hours before the event. joey texted me three times and that was my cue. and i was so glad i went. i missed everyone! and the big surprise was seeing wawa again (welcome back!). he came back from the states last saturday. i YMed him three days ago and asked if he's going but did not confirm. of course, the first question i asked him was "How tall was Adam Brody?"

i saw xavier (with a new 'do), celest, hazel, joan, hannah, cecil, jamie, rita, omnie, vjay, champ(whom i'll never call kuya again 'cause it just sounds weird...even him found it weird), sheldon, angel, ms. chu and some old familiar faces. everybody had their own share of sembreak/halloween chika.

after strata, i went to galleria with joey and wawa to buy something from rj music store. locating the store took us a while, but had fun walking around while wawa shared his mtv2 bamboozle adventure. me, on the other hand, will always butt in and asked about how adam brody smelled? how adam brody's voice sound like? is rachel bilson there?...

too bad i didn't have my cam with me and the battery of wawa's cam was drained. but is was all fun!

note to self: be less fickle minded.

john mayer on relationships

c"So, I was thinking about relationships as it pertains to songs about relationships, and, ah, I was trying to think of, well, it occur to me that the key...I figure out the key to a relationship and how it'll work. Check it out---this is a tip from the cynical John:

When you first met somebody, you found out they like you, first of all, a friend of a friend of theirs says 'He or she really, really likes you'. And then it kills you, floors you, send you to the ground, you've got to pick yourself off the ground. Then you get their phone number and call them up right? And you say 'Yeah, that's a great phone conversation, can I see you sometime?' And then they'll say this, they'll say 'I'D LIKE THAT'. 'I'd like that' makes you fall of the floor again, your heart's about to stop because of 'I'd like that'. So now, you're blood pressure's goin', you're six feet off the ground, you can't sleep because of 'I'd like that'.

So then you hang out for a while. And you call, and you talk on the phone all the time, and then you drop the bomb, what feels like the bomb, you say, 'You know what? I'VE BEEN THINKIN' ABOUT YOU...'. And then she goes 'Ooooh', and you go 'What happened?' and she goes 'Sorry, I just, I just, it's...I've been thinking about you too...' BAM! Higher than the sky. But now, 'Id like that', done, now you're up to 'I'm thinkin' about you'. Then however number of months pass, it makes you feel comfortable saying it, you say 'I got to tell you something,' they'll go 'What?', you go 'I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU.' And nothing in the world sounds better than 'I'm in love with you.' And then maybe she starts cryin', and maybe she goes 'Whoah!' (choking in disbelief). And all of a sudden, you're like 'Oh, men!

But now what doesn't work, 'I'd like that' and I've been thinkin' about you', now we're in 'I'm in love with you' then maybe someday, we'd go to 'I love you', fast forward, then you'll go 'I love you a lot', 'I love you more than anything in life'. Now I love you just doesn't work, and the pressure just keeps goin' up, it's fast forward, it's like six months, six weeks...what ever the case maybe, then you're like, 'I WANNA MARRY YOU, I WANT TO IMPREGNATE YOU WITH MY LOVE, I WANTED TO SEND MY LOVE TO YOU! DAMN IT! WORDS DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE! And then you'd say this, like, you used this, like, before...'I JUST WISH THEY'LL PUT A NEW WORD IN THE DICTIONARY BIGGER THAN LOVE BECAUSE LOVE JUST DOESN'T DESCRIBE WHAT I FEEL!' And then now he or she starts asking 'Do you love me?' And then you start goin' 'Of course I love you', 'Well say it!' and then it becomes 'Say it twice!', 'Say it three times!' And then you'll cross a really really interesting point when all of a sudden it becomes 'I HATE YOU!, I HATE YOU!', and then you go 'Oh my God, she hates me!' And now she goes 'I hate you more than anything!' And then it's like 'WE'RE OVER!' And then they'll go 'No we're not!' And now words do not completely work at all, you're left with nothing. You're throwing punches under water. You're done.

You know what the moral of that story is? If there is one: Never, ever, ever, ever underestimate the power of 'I'D LIKE THAT'."

--- John Mayer, from Any Given Thursday

new stuff

i added new things on my page:
  • the book i'm currently reading. clicking the picture will re-direct you to amazon.com where you can find reviews and ratings about the book.
  • my choice of noise. i'm in love with dishwalla at the moment.
  • a juke blog. i got it from radioblogclub.com. i saw the player in lillix's website and was inspired to create my own. i find creating one a bit tricky, but my patience paid off. i uploaded my favorite songs from dishwalla. i just couldn't figure out what to configure to autoplay it.
  • a cbox. very cool!
  • a stat counter.
i'm currently creating my header image. i had a couple of designs but i just can't seem to edit it right. any tips?

homeward bound

this is the term repeatedly uttered by my brother the whole day yesterday to calm everyone. that fluffy's somewhere finding his way back home. all of us are saddened that a scary fact is seeping through us: fluffy's gone.

fluffy has been our dog for almost seven years now. we would whole-heartedly accept if he died because we expected that since he's really old. but that fact that he was hit by a tricycle going downslope, ran and gone forever (and we are still hoping that we would see him infront of our door wagging his tail) in the woods having no idea if he's still breathing or not, is really hurting for the whole family.

my dad and my brother alternately went back to the spot where fluffy was hit and asked the neighborhood in that area if they had seen our fluffy. they also screamed his name a couple of times while searching, hoping for a response.

a brush of strong rain hit our town yesterday. the thought that our dearly beloved dog is somewhere in the woods hurting and no roof on his head, was really heart-breaking.

zaide suggested that we should get a new dog. but me and my mom wouldn't hear of it.

uwi ka na fluffy, sige na
