Ayala: The New EDSA?

No comments:
Will today's rally make history?

Thousands of people gathered at Paseo De Roxas in Makati earlier today for an inter-faith rally in support of ZTE star witness Jun Lozada and a call for President Arroyo's resignation.

Here are some of the photos I took while walking from Paseo De Roxas (where my current office is) to the MRT station. The attendance of today's rally was overwhelming. As in, grabe ang kapal ng tao!

This was the view from the 32nd floor of the building where I was. People, mostly from different religious and civic organizations, walk their way to Makati. The rally was scheduled to start at 5pm, but the participants of the rally were already there as early as 3:30pm. I heard some of the groups walked from EDSA and Paranaque.

They started the program with the holy mass. When I went out of our building, the bishop on-stage was encouraging the people to shout "GMA Resign". A number of professionals were holding up a banner with the president's picture with Deliver Us From Evil as tagline.

Aside from the main stage in Paseo, there were other mini-stage-setup along Ayala Avenue. I sent some of the pictures to some of my friends for them to have an idea what was happening.

Unlike the rally two weeks ago, the participants today are more diverse. The different groups of people were mostly represented. From farmers, yuppies, priests, nuns, students, teachers, lawyers, professionals etc.

Even dogs...

Ladyfingers

No comments:
Music of the '90's dominated my playlist this week. I grew up with happy songs from Moonpools and Caterpillars and The Sundays. But I've been enchanted by this song from Luscious Jackson the whole week.

I've got ladyfingers baby, I got kid gloves, baby I've got heart...

People in general are getting more and more concerned about keeping their body healthy. The numerous ads that promotes different kinds of antioxidants proves that. These anti-oxidants can be found in fruit juices like pineapple. Whitening capsules also joined the craze as they equip each tablet with these important minerals. Biotivia gives consumers more choices as they launch their longevity supplements in the market.

Biotivia's longevity supplements can possibly help in the following ways: Heightened level of energy and awareness without the jitters associated with caffeine energy, improved physical endurance, loss of cravings for sweets and carbohydrates, deeper more restful sleep, mental clarity and improved concentration.

Screaming Fangirl

1 comment:
I am completely speechless. I found out last night from a radio plug and my dad was really freaked out as I went crazy, screaming and jumping on the sofa. OMG! It's Mandy Moore! I have been a fan of her music since her Candy days. This is my chance to meet her upclose. The first time she was here, I went to her SOP guesting and I was in her concert at the Araneta, but didn't have the chance to get my CD signed and really MEET her in person. Wahhhhh! Mandy! OMG!

*fan mode to the max*

Busted!

No comments:
Apparently, my blog is again penalized by Google. I checked my Inbox for new keywords, but only found Overstock coupons and three others. I have been warned by other blogger friends about Google and their number of spies on the look out for their next victim. I've only had this domain name for four months, and I am proud to say that I have built an ample amount of traffic during those times. But Google is just so darn harsh.

Anyways, I'll just let this pass. Google is not the lord of this blog. I AM.

I'll be sleeping over at Olive's tonight. We have a long day tomorrow.

She Sinks

No comments:
She slipped because of the dangling Danze faucets behind the sink. It wasn't necessary for the plumber to replace it since she was the only victim. Her bathroom's always flooded, not because of the faucets but because of her unending woes. Unending woes of how he ignores her. He who insist not to remove the dangling faucet.

Of this, she sinks...

Goodbye, Incubus

No comments:
No Incubus for me and Peng. :(

We spent the whole of January saving up for the tickets, no selling motion sensor lights or any items from our garages involved, so we excitedly went to SM Megamall last Monday to finally buy two. But the sales lady from Ticketnet happily told us that the only available seats are Free Seating and General Ad. Kaineees!

Brandon Boyd and the boys will surely miss us.

Quotes From MacGuff

No comments:
As all of you may already know, Juno is my flick of the moment. The movie had a really witty screenplay, and here are some of my favorite quotes from the film, which also had been my random YM status messages for the past days :)

You should've gone to China, you know, 'cause I hear they give away babies like free iPods. You know, they pretty much just put them in those t-shirt guns and shoot them out at sporting events.

"As far as boyfriends go, Paulie Bleeker is totally boss.

He is the cheese to my macaroni."

I am a sacred vessel; all you got in your stomach is taco bell.

I don't know what kind of girl I am.

I'm losing my faith in humanity.

I need to know that it's possible that two people can stay happy together forever.

Doctors are sadists who like to play God and watch lesser people scream.
- this one's from Juno's stepmom, Bren.

Don't Let The Bed Bugs Bite

No comments:
Creepy crawlers, commonly known as bed bugs, is bad news. These bugs are not new, in my case, since our house is situated on top of a mountain. Literally. So I've formed a habit of putting away all my sheets in the morning and then put them back at night. I know it's a lot of work, but it's one way of avoiding the sleepless nights and that annoyingly itchy feeling when these bugs attack.

Back To Regular Programming

No comments:
I haven't had that much time to blog for the past three weeks because of the work load from our client. But I am happy to share that I am done with the first draft of the document. After all that good, bad and not-so-bad stress, I've decided to treat myself to a well-deserved movie.

I set it on a Friday, but decided to move it to Saturday because of the rally.

Saturday's impromptu itinerary got an unexpected turn when I heard Zaide utter the word Quiapo while having breakfast. Apparently, he and my mom had plans to go there to buy something for the school community project. I decided to join them and brought my Holga with me. I took a few shots of the church, the people, the fascinating street scenes.

Sana lang lahat ng kuha ko sa Quiapo eh natanggal ko yung lens cap ng Holga ko...

I spent half of my day in Quiapo, then headed to Shang-rilla with my mom after.

Juno is my favorite movie of the year. It had so much appeal despite its simplicity. The movie had a straight-to-the-point plot combined with a chock-full of amazing actors and actresses giving life to the characters created by Jason Reitman. Ellen Page played the sixteen-year old rock-lovin', hell-i-don't-care-what-you-say Juno MacGuff. The story revolved around her discovery about the deeper meaning of adulthood, life and giving life. The script was beautifully written as movie-goers giggle and laugh at Juno's innocent outlook despite her situation. Plus the honesty and the sincerity of the screenplay connected with the audience, may it be teens or parents. Aside from Juno, Bleek and Suchin are my personal favorite among the characters. Dorks rule in this film with Bleek's Tict-tacs armed with his sensitive and naive persona. And don't forget to watch out for Suchin's "Babies deserve to be borned" chant. Really funny!

I had some doubts that my Mom would hate the movie since it had the teen-flick aura. But I was dead wrong. The verdict: she plans to have a movie analysis using the film on one of her lessons for her Religious Education class. That's something since she rarely use recent films for her lessons.

The movie has a killer soundtrack! The minute I was out of the theatre, I ran into Music One and asked if the soundtrack. Sadly, it's not available yet :(

Hot Tubs

No comments:
This is the time of the day where hot tubs may come in handy. It's friggin' cold and I hate having those bad colds. It does not only clog my nose, but my brain function as well.

Sort of.

I ordered a glass of hot mocha latte. I can smell it right now, and I can't wait to dive into it. I've had three cups of coffee at home. Heh.

I'm such an coffee addict!

Time For Fairs

No comments:
It's the month of school fairs. A lot of trade show booths have been put up in schools and universities. I'm not a fan of booths. I scares me most of the time; the booths at school fairs, that is. I was once assigned to the DJ booth where I played god with the music play list of the whole fair. Man, that was fun.

Ugh, It's Another Valentine's Day...

No comments:
Caroline Presno wrote an article for Yahoo Personals and it had a very interesting title: Ugh, It's Another Valentine's Day and I'm Still Single. This is very true in my case. LOL. The article listed down some practical and empowering things to do to tone down the “Ugh” feeling tomorrow, and in the coming days when everything around gets syrupy and mushy. Here's the complete list and my thoughts about the items:

1. Wallow, But Just a Little. I have every right to wallow. The author discussed that it is important to acknowledge your feelings. It’s a bit sad not to have someone to share the mushiness and the kilig moments, but what the heck.

*Wallowing mode*

3…2…1.

Done!

2. Watch "Love Actually". I haven’t seen this movie. The author said that it is one of the perfect flicks to watch this season because it shows that other kinds of love are just as important, such as the love of family and friends.

I actually started my Valentine movie marathon last weekend. Somewhere In Time and The Lake House are some of the titles in the marathon, and I still have four titles left.

3. Go on a Trip. I'll be doing this with my Holga in tow. Now, the perfect place to go to...

*thinking mode*

My V-Day will also be a Holga day. I hope I can get some candid shots of the festivities tomorrow. :)

4. Re-energize Your Relationship Search. Wow. This is something big. Um...

5. Ask Someone Out. This is one thing that I have learned to do recently: ask my guy friends out. But it seems that not all my guy friends are game to go out with a girl whom they do not have plans on dating. I've argued about this "boy-girl issue" with a friend of mine whom I thought would not have reservations about it. He explained that it's a BIG thing when the girl is the one who sort of initiated, for example, checking out a movie. He explained a lot of things which I always hear from guys. He defended that he has no issue about these things, yadah yadah, yadah...even though its clear that he and she are only friends, it boils down to one thing: He will not go out with a girl unless he has plans to date her. Gah!

6. Cuddle Up to Something Warm and Fuzzy. Thank God for Mommy Brush and my blankie!

7. Eat Some Dark Chocolate. Black chocolate is good for the heart and has antioxidants which is good for the body, and I heard that it has a powerful effect on people's endorphins, so you'll be in a happy mode all day. I hope I can find a bar of Meiji's Dark Chocolate with Almonds tomorrow :)

8. Don't See the World as One Big Happy Couple. Yeah, I totally agree with this. And I would not elaborate anymore.

9. Remember This Is Just ONE Valentine's Day. This last one is for those who already had romantic relationships, which I cannot fully relate to. LOL.

Medical ID

No comments:
My best friend Peng has been a professional nurse for two years. She shares stories about her duty whenever she goes online or we have time to chat. I have no idea what kind of medical id does a nurse have, so I might ask her about it on our next chat. I love it when she shares about her patients because she works with new born babies during her shift.

Derby Party Invites

No comments:
Have you ever been given Kentucky Derby party invitations? I only hear about derbies from my late grand father. He has six roosters then, and he often win at different competitions because the roosters and other hens are all well-taken cared of. I, together with my cousins, wait for my grandfather every weekend because he always treats us to a late afternoon merienda after his derby match. He tells us stories of how other rooster owners trade secrets during fights, but he never mentioned any parties. I wonder if they have curry or breaded drumsticks on their menu.

Last For Today

No comments:
This will be my last post for today. I'll be writing a lot of things tonight. I find it hard to complete tasks these past few days, so I've decided to take home some of the load. I've been blogging for the past five hours, and that's my usual internet time quota. Coffee will be my companion, and I wish I had one of those coffee makers we have in the office that brews almost perfect coffee every time.

I am glad the Writers' strike is finally over!

Heels

No comments:
My room's cluttered with shoes. I don't have any golf shoes and I don't plan to have one. Another pair of Chuck Taylors would be nice. I'm starting to like peep-toe sandals and outgrowing my craziness over flip-flops. I was dared to wear shoes with at least 3-inch heels, but was unsuccessful. I've been seeing a lot of girls wearing boots. It looks good on them, but it's really unreasonable wearing one here in the tropics.

Free Hub

No comments:
Our house is a hopeless case when it comes to accessing the internet. The first time I tried setting up a wireless connection was a total disappointment. The area where our house stands is a deadspot. But it never stopped me from admiring how convenient it is to have a wireless environment at home. If you are looking for a great broadband deal and you live in the UK, BT broadband may have what you need. This service is available to UK households, and I am now dying with envy because of the great deals and packages they offer. UK's most complete broadband service offers an connection that can handle up to 8MB download speed (equivalent to 100 times the speed of dial-up), an out and about wireless service, and a free hub. BT broadband offers their free hub service for a limited time only, so sign up now and enjoy a complete broadband experience within your area.

Birthdays

No comments:
I want to send my belated birthday greetings to the following people whom I dearly adore and miss:

To Cecil, hope to see you soon. I wonder why you haven't been online for quite a while now. That's the only way I get to chat with you. I know we have been busy with our own careers and I heard you have a new job, but always remember that I am here for you. I'll be waiting for your SMS. Update me, sis.

To Champoy, it was great seeing you again during your Glorietta gig. Too bad, we haven't had the chance to chat. Oh well, you're always mobbed, LOL. Goodluck with your band's new album. That will be out on March, right?

They both turned 26 yesterday, February 08. They'll both kill me for posting their age, hehe. I sent them an SMS, but only got a reply from Champoy. Paging Cecil! :)

Lastly, Happy Birthday to Wawa. Hope you are having a blast today. I read your blog once in a while. I hope to see you when you get back from the US.

Avoiding Glare

No comments:
Rays of sunshine touching my cheeks every morning is what pumps me up. Aside from getting my daily dose of Vitamin D, it sure make the chilly feeling go away. But sometimes, I'd rather cozy up in my bed and just hang out and read a book. Too much glare from the sun's rays on my window has become a problem for me, so I'm looking for some good quality Blinds fit for my room. The Vertical blinds will be nice.

Nice Timing, PayPal

No comments:
I was expecting to get my money from PayPal converted and transferred to my debit card today, but I got this on my inbox:

Ang Tangi Kong Pag-Ibig

2 comments:
video

Tatay Doro shared when I asked what the title of the song was. I remember how nervous he was before this performance, unawarely humming the lyrics over breakfast. My Tatay Doro is known as "the romantic". He's 82, and still knows his *Kundiman.

*Kundiman were originally Kapampangan war songs popularized as Filipino patriotic songs and love songs by the end of the 19th century. Kundiman is derived from the Kapampangan word that meant "red cloth", the symbol for fire, exorcism and warfare. Since they became popular among the Tagalogs as love songs at the turn of the 20th century, Nicanor Abelardo, a half-Tagalog half-Kapampangan composer from San Miguel de Mayumu had to coin a "new" meaning for them to accept and understand. Thus its new meaning in Tagalog: "kung hindi man" which means "if it were not so." - wikipedia

*Ang Tangi Kong Pag-Ibig
is a song that describes a man's vicarious "slow death" as he longs for his beloved. It appears that the man's love was thought to be insincere by the object of his affection. - Source

Pea

No comments:
My foam mattress is not in good condition for quite sometime now, and not being able to sleep well is its devastating effect. I remember a fairy tale when I was young about a princess who cannot sleep because of one single pea underneath a mountain of mattress that she was lying on. Some of you might be quite familiar with that story, but I cannot recall the title of that tale.
