Last Saturday, I was the Maid Of Honor at my Aunt's wedding. It became a clan event since all of my Aunts, Uncles, cousins and other relatives were involved in the preparation and the event itself. The last time my mother side's family had this big of an event was some 20 years ago for my Tita Lolet's wedding. My parents will be the ones by my Tita Maan's side when she walks down the aisle. S0 Mama, Papa, my two brothers and I were all up by 6am to prepare for the 10am wedding. I asked my parents why instead of Tatay Doro (my mom's dad), they were the ones who will be accompanying Tita Maan to the altar. They explained that it is considered bad luck if a widow or a widower (my Lolo) participates at a wedding.
We left the house at 7:30am and headed to my Lolo's house in San Juan. Almost all of my cousins and my mother's brothers and sisters were there when we arrived. Me and my mom immediately went into the make-up room, while my dad and my two brothers help out in carrying the videoke machine for the post-wedding party. Around 9:30am, everyone who'll be a part of the entourage were already dressed. We all headed to the church after the pre-wedding pictorials.

There was a bit of mix-up with bridesmaids-groomsmen paring and who'll be carry what, but the wedding started as scheduled: 10:30am. It's funny that the usherettes from the church asked me to walk slowly, as slow as I can. Maybe mom tipped the usherettes that I walk as if I am running, hehe. The ceremony lasted an hour. Family and friends headed to the reception in Aplaya afterwards.
The reception was packed with other relatives and friends who did not make it to the church ceremony. My mom hosted the mini-program and the celebration ended with a short speech from the newlyweds.
The minute the wedding reception ended, I asked my dad if he can drop me home first. I just needed to get out of the bridesmaid gown and take off the itchy mixture of make-up, sweat and dust on my face. I skipped the post-wedding videoke party and decided to stay home and sleep after that long, happy, tiring day.
