Flu Free

I missed two days, make that three days, of work because of Influenza. I started to feel really weird at the start of the week with splitting headaches and nausea. At first, I thought it was the aftermath of the very busy weekend I've had. Come Wednesday, my condition worsened and started to have chills. After work, I visited Healthway at the Shang-rilla to have myself checked. I thought of visiting Makati Med earlier that day, but a friend of mine said to go a different hospital because their emergency room is always crowded. The last time she went there, she was attended to after 2 hours of waiting due to the long line of patients.

Healthway at the Shang-rilla is like a mini-hospital and entertains patients until 7pm. I skipped my usual bus ride and took the MRT instead for me to reach Ortigas before the clinic's closing time. I left the Ayala Station around 6:30pm and was in Healthway at 6:45. The reception staff was really accommodating. There were a few people on queue when I arrived, but at least the environment was not as stressful as a normal hospital emergency room would be like.

I was called in by one of the hospital's Family Physician, Dra. Eufelina Mariano. I like her. She's still so jolly and kid-like after a long day. Patients coming from her room are all smiles. I thought that was comforting. I was second to the last of her patients for the day. Dra. Mariano must've noticed that I was on the verge of passing out and was really sick that she called in their laboratory and begged if they can still perform one last CBC test for the day and have the results out immediately. I was frightened that they'd have to draw blood for the test. : Five minutes later, I was called in to the nurse's station where they handed the results of the CBC. The still-jolly doctor interpreted the results and was thankful that I only have common influenza and nothing worst like A (H1N1) or Dengue. She added that too much phlegm, acute pharyngitis and low blood pressure are what's keeping me feverish. She recommended that I should rest for two days and take paracetamol, some dragees to get rid of the phlegm and some lozenges for my soar throat.

I feel better now, but decided to skip my part-time class today and stay home for a full recovery.
