Achoo

No comments:
A little bit of research about Mesothelioma lawyers before I prep for church. Allergy attacks are not really nice, especially when you've been trying to pull yourself together all day to write. Started sneezing the moment I woke up this morning. It's not even cold, so I am guessing its the dust from the curtains. You see, my mom's a bit of a perfectionist when she's around. Curtains are her obsession, and make sure that each and every one matches with the bed covers. I had peach ones last night, and had blue ones on my window this morning. The dust while she's replacing 'em might be it.

Be back after an hour and write a real blog entry.

Flick Fest

No comments:
It's 8:23pm. I still have to write about life insurance lead and four more before I continue my movie marathon. I started getting my hands on the copies of films that I enjoyed and missed watching when I was between 10 to 19 years old. Listing the movies was a mistake because now I don't know when to stop adding titles, which means I need to think of other alternatives on how and where to get copies of 'em. Episodes from my favorite television series from the US are on spring break so I'll be having these series of marathons in the next three or four months to fill the anticipation for the new seasons of these series.

Sana's 80s Vibe

Was about to call it a day, then I remembered this video. I love how adventurous the band is when it comes to their videos. Plus this song is the closest to my ♥ out of the songs from Bipolar. Directed by Pancho Esguerra, this is the first that they did without their drummer, Ean Mayor. But of course, true-blue fans are all about the music and the band having less of a member in a video is the least their worries. Video game fanatics will find this music video adorable. Hit play to see what I mean. ;)

Yay! Finally a little rain after the long streak of humid days. It's funny that that famous Rivermaya song is playing in my head on loop. LOL. A sleep number bed would be perfect for this kind of weather. One would just want to stay in bed, read a book or sleep all day. I hope the drizzle continues in the coming days. Just drizzles and not a storm. Part of my routine is walking at least a block or two going to and from the office, which makes the heat unbearable at times. A strong rain would not help either. Just drizzles for me.

H1N1

No comments:
Two cases of the H1N1 virus have been confirmed here in the Philippines. A kid and a 50-year-old woman are now under the microscopic probe of the DOH and of where ever hospital they've been confined to. Health plans like the ones offered by bcbsnc and basic precautionary measures like frequent hand washing and drinking lots of water might come in handy.

Maan + Aries Wedding

No comments:

Last Saturday, I was the Maid Of Honor at my Aunt's wedding. It became a clan event since all of my Aunts, Uncles, cousins and other relatives were involved in the preparation and the event itself. The last time my mother side's family had this big of an event was some 20 years ago for my Tita Lolet's wedding. My parents will be the ones by my Tita Maan's side when she walks down the aisle. S0 Mama, Papa, my two brothers and I were all up by 6am to prepare for the 10am wedding. I asked my parents why instead of Tatay Doro (my mom's dad), they were the ones who will be accompanying Tita Maan to the altar. They explained that it is considered bad luck if a widow or a widower (my Lolo) participates at a wedding.

We left the house at 7:30am and headed to my Lolo's house in San Juan. Almost all of my cousins and my mother's brothers and sisters were there when we arrived. Me and my mom immediately went into the make-up room, while my dad and my two brothers help out in carrying the videoke machine for the post-wedding party. Around 9:30am, everyone who'll be a part of the entourage were already dressed. We all headed to the church after the pre-wedding pictorials.

There was a bit of mix-up with bridesmaids-groomsmen paring and who'll be carry what, but the wedding started as scheduled: 10:30am. It's funny that the usherettes from the church asked me to walk slowly, as slow as I can. Maybe mom tipped the usherettes that I walk as if I am running, hehe. The ceremony lasted an hour. Family and friends headed to the reception in Aplaya afterwards.

The reception was packed with other relatives and friends who did not make it to the church ceremony. My mom hosted the mini-program and the celebration ended with a short speech from the newlyweds.

The minute the wedding reception ended, I asked my dad if he can drop me home first. I just needed to get out of the bridesmaid gown and take off the itchy mixture of make-up, sweat and dust on my face. I skipped the post-wedding videoke party and decided to stay home and sleep after that long, happy, tiring day.

Paper Heart + Sherlock Homes

1 comment:

I've been raving about Paper Heart for weeks now. I accidentaly saw this trailer while browsing the latest movie trailers at Yahoo. The title was pretty interesting, I thought. Plus it stars my current crush, Michael Cera. This film received some commendations from the recently concluded Sundance Film Festival. I was blown away by this short clip that I still cannot stop smiling though I've watch this clip a hundred times. Too bad, I have to wait for August to actually see the whole film.

Fast Fact: Charlyne Yi, the heroine of this half-fiction-half-documentary is half-Filipino. :)

I have always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes. I've read this Arthur Conan Doyle classic over and over, and have seen an episode or two of the classic television series adaptation produced in the 1940s over at YouTube. This one is the latest film adaptation of an event about the detective's quest in solving one of his most popular cases, "A Scandal in Bohemia". It was popular because it was the only case that Holmes had failed to solve, in a way. Read the book or watch out for this film to find out ;). Guy Richie (yes, that's Madonna's ex-husband) directed this film and will be premiering on Christmas Day.

Fast fact: Out of the four novels and fifty-six short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Irene Adler's character (played by Rachel McAdams in this new adaptation) which is the most popular among the characters of the series, only appeared in one story (A Scandal in Bohemia).

Meds

No comments:

My mother spent another two days at the hospital because of dehydration. The nurses said they had admitted three to five same cases this week. Weather change is what they blame and not this “epidemic” that has been circling our town for the past three weeks. My mother has her own Medicare supplement insurance from her school, but we are all thankful that she’s also covered by both mine and my brother’s company medical benefits too.

It has nothing to do with the room's lighting. Even the sound the wailing wind doesn’t even come close. He laments, as the sky shifts from day to night. Fearful footsteps approached the very end of his sanity.

Where now, he must hide.

Renovations

No comments:

House renovations have been going around the neighborhood these past few days. It’s not really a nice thing to wake up to. The sound of hammers and saws in contact with wood, hollow blocks and concrete is a bit stressful. There are more than five batches of delivery trucks I’ve came across while doing my usual morning walk going to the store. That only means the pounding noise will not be meeting the fat lady anytime soon.

Fences and the other part of the neighbor’s roof have been installed this afternoon. I heard my father talking to one carpenter working with it and shared that the piece of roof was for the bathroom. I certainly would not have any idea of the new next door peeps considered an ideal standard when it comes to their bathrooms, but placing some good quality bathroom accessories isn’t such a bad idea. I found these showers and bristan taps while randomly researching for some new stuff for our own renovation plans for the house, and I bet that some pieces would look good in our bathroom, as well as the neighbor’s too.

As of this writing, the neighbor’s roof have been perfectly put into place, or it seems like it from my point of view. Judging from the bulk of bamboos and coconut husk in their front yard, I see a smaller version similar to our bahay kubo being built early tomorrow. I should definitely will get used to the noise. I just hope I can do it fast enough like my brother did, sleeping like a baby with all the noise around.
