Yellow Day

No comments:
It was a good call for the past administration to declare this day as holiday. The Philippines is definitely in a festive mood because today marks Day 1 of President Noynoy Aquino as the 15th President of the Republic. It had been raining these past few days, but luckily the sky sort of cleared during the time of Aquino's inauguration. My family would've been there if not for mother's condition, but we turned our TV on in as early as 8am to witness the historical event. The number of people who came in to witness the swore-in was phenomenal, given the weather required them to bring umbrellas and rain boots with them.

Lame Questions

1 comment:
Is there anyone else who could interview international movie stars other than Ricky Lo? No offense, but I am not a fan of his generic questions whenever he interviews BIG Hollywood stars. Like he didn't research about the movie, their characters and about the celebrities who's playing the part.

Anyways, Up Dharma Down will be in Cebu this July 03. I wanna go, hehe.

We have a lot of deadline this coming week (like a research on 10 - acne products) that is also due the same week. Toxic, but still fun though. :)

Mad World

No comments:
There are many things that I wanted to say about this video. How, for the first time since this noontime variety show’s existence, I was able to endure the lame production numbers and what-nots just to capture this performance. This is not the video I took, but I think each and every one of you reading this should hear and experience this rare performance in good quality. I don’t really know her personally, but I’ve perceived her as a very shy and confident person. Yes, I put together shy and confident in the same sentence. She’s very soft spoken, at her sincerest state every time I get to talk to her before or after gigs, and shares the wittiest mind farts in Twitter. She might appear timid, but wait ‘til she stands in front of those precious ivories and start belting out those notes that would definitely seep into your soul.

This is Armi Millare of Up Dharma Down performing  Mad World in Party Pilipinas last Sunday, 20 June 2010. The best cover of the Tears For Fears classic I’ve ever heard. Click play and watch out for those Goosebumps.

Daddy Day Gift

No comments:

Father's Day is just around the corner. It has been a week and I still haven't decide what I will give my dad for that special day. He's not an office guy, so I cannot really give him these designer ties I found online. I mentioned days before about new tires as an option, and maybe a new pair of jeans. My two brothers have been asking me non-stop on what will we be giving my dad. The older one suggested we should eat out. The younger one said we should take him to the movies to watch the remake of The Karate Kid.

Which is which?

Rob Reiner’s Flipped

No comments:

I should visit FirstShowing.net more often. I love discovering new and interesting films from their website, like Flipped.

Juli Baker (Madeline Carroll) devoutly believes in three things: the sanctity of trees (especially her beloved sycamore), the wholesomeness of the eggs she collects from her backyard flock of chickens, and that someday she will kiss Bryce Loski (Callan McAuliffe). Ever since she saw Bryce's baby blues back in second grade, Juli has been smitten. Unfortunately, Bryce has never felt the same. Frankly, he thinks Juli Baker is a little weird--after all, what kind of freak raises chickens and sits in trees for fun? Then, in eighth grade, everything changes. Bryce begins to see that Juli's unusual interests and pride in her family are, well, kind of cool. And Juli starts to think that maybe Bryce's brilliant blue eyes are as empty as the rest of Bryce seems to be. After all, what kind of jerk doesn't care about other people's feelings about chickens and trees? With Flipped, mystery author Wendelin Van Draanen has taken a break from her Sammy Keyes series, and the result is flipping fantastic. Bryce and Juli's rants and raves about each other ring so true that teen readers will quickly identify with at least one of these hilarious feuding egos, if not both. A perfect introduction to the adolescent war between the sexes.

- from IMDb

I cannot recount how many times I played the trailer, but watching it always make me smile and gives me butterflies in my stomach. I am sucker for these kinds of films; the ones during the ‘50s – early ‘90s with kick-ass soundtracks and about the most unforgettable time of one’s life that is adolescence. The time where we have our first crushes, our first kiss and our first love.  Flipped reminds me of those films I adored (and still adore) when I was in High School like Now and Then and My Girl

Callan McAuliffe, the kid who plays Bryce, reminds me of Zac Efron. Watch closely and notice his gestures and the way he talks to see what I mean. And look how dreamy he is…sigh.

Courgar crush, heee.

I really hope they show this locally.

Healthcare

No comments:
The importance of having a stable health care provider is, I think, the best thing a person or a family can have. People with regular jobs have the right to have a stable social security disability benefits.  Allsup is a leading nationwide provider of financial and healthcare related services to people with disabilities in the US. Since 1984, the company has helped more than 130,000 people receive their entitled Social Security Disability Insurance and Medicare benefits. The health care provider has a 98% success rate for those who complete the SSDI process with us. Allsup only charges a fee if we obtain Social Security disability benefits for you. We can help you get the SSDI benefits you deserve, whether applying for the first time or appealing a denial. SSDI is provided by the SSA to people who qualify and have paid into the system (FICA taxes). There is no transaction – we shouldn’t use that word. We can help people file a disability appeal after they have been denied by the SSA. It is convenient and easy to work with us and we make the process easier. And the backlog is due to high demand or rather an increase in SSDI applications. No one pays us to get SSDI either – we are paid a fee for helping people through the process with the SSA.

Father's Day

1 comment:

I am still confused. Is Father’s Day tomorrow or next Sunday?

Papa’s been really patient with everyone. Getting him an hid headlights for his jeep for Father’s Day is one among the three things I plan to do. The headlights of his jeep’s pretty busted, thanks to its nearly eight years of service. The thing about his headlights is it’s now starting to give up on him whenever he and Mama is on their way to dialysis sessions. Her schedule’s at night and driving with busted headlights is not good for one’s nerves, especially these rainy days. Now, those headlights…

Princess. She really is the princess of our whole family. She is the youngest daughter of my Tito Tony. My mother have been in and out of the hospital these past couple of weeks and I told my Tita Marissa (Tito Tony's wife) that my mother would always say how she misses Princess. Princess is 5 months old. A lot of our relatives say that she looks like her Daddy. But I think she looks more like her Nanay. She got this huge pair of eyes with long, curly eyelashes. Her hair's curly too, which makes her look more more like a doll that she already is. She has cute little dimples, so subtle, that you really have to make her smile wide for you to see it. She makes these funny, adorable noise every time you talk to her or she hears someone laugh. I love her inquiring stare every time she sees someone new around.

Slimming Woes

1 comment:
Jane wouldn't even hear of it. It had been 45 minutes since she asked the question: is there any truth on 7 day slimming pill side effects? She is currently at a conference chat with her girlfriends, trying to find answers to her day-old dilemma. One of them said it’s safe but you have to bear the random visits to the restroom and more food cravings than the usual. Another said that pills are horrible and she should get rid of them quick. Now the question is, what would Jane do?

One Month Away

1 comment:
As I was starting to look through my e-mail from clients (where one is asking me to write lipofuze reviews), I realized that my birthday is a month away. I am turning 27 and I seriously don't know what I want for my birthday. Two months ago, I want to my own bike. Well, I've wanted one since I was 10 but my parents, for some reason, did not buy me one. The best memory I had with a bike was when Ate Nats was still here. She lent me her friend’s bike and we drove around UP. It was the most exhilarating feeling to be able to do that. And of course, the first time I learned to ride a bike was another fun memory. I used my cousin’s bike to practice. I remember its color: red; with worn-out handles and strong brakes.

Casino Treat

No comments:
The new President of the Republic of the Philippines will be declared in a couple of days. The new administration is definitely getting the worst hand-me-down government where everything needs an ten-fold extra bleach treatment. One thing I really loathe about the closing administration is the constant change of the dates of historical celebrations. The Arroyo administration focused on what's good with the businesses and the economy and not the essence of what we are celebrating. One instance is this coming Independence Day, June 12. The date falls on a Saturday, but they declared the Monday after that a holiday. It's becoming a bit confusing for the younger generations. Speaking of the coming long weekend, one of my colleague is planning to have a casino games slot machines themed party to celebrate the long weekend. Aside from his group being a fan of these popular gambling games, he wanted to try something new and play casino games online to lessen the preparation hassle. I recommended this website where they can find the best and the most user-friendly roulette online among other games that they’d like to play.  Aside from the roulette game, each of his friends will be up for a casino treat because there are various poker rooms and other best online casino games available all in one site. Plus the web site is really user-friendly where one can easily search and find the most suitable game for their mood.

Dashboard Confessional Post Part 1

No comments:

Yes, I cannot think of a better title for this week-late post. Dashboard Confessional’s concert was last week, May 27. And every time someone would ask me how was the concert, I’d always reply:

Akala ko panaginip lang… (I thought I was just in a dream / dreaming)

I’ve dreamed about it a couple of times since I started listening to Dashboard Confessional nine years ago. That one day I’d be at a band’s concert singing along to their well-penned songs at the top of my lungs in a secluded bar somewhere. One visitor of this blog asked how I knew Dashboard Confessional since the only notable song of the band ever released in Philippines is Vindicated from the original soundtrack of Spiderman 2. Like I said, been listening and following the band’s career for nine years now, I discovered them one late-night of TV surfing. It was in MTV and the VJ introduced a new band and the title of the song got me intrigued: Screaming Infidelities.

Everyone had been buzzing about the John Mayer concert earlier this year. As soon as I found out that JM will be having a concert here, I blurted out

Dashboard Confessional na lang, tapos pwede na akong mamatay. (Only Dashboard Confessional left, then I can die.)

Then a couple of months later, a lot have been tweeting about it; that Chris Carrabba and the rest of the band will be having a show here on May 27.

The day I found out Dashboard Confessional will be having a concert in Manila.

I sent an e-mail to Nick from the DC e-store and to verify the news. And he did.

Fast forward to May 26. Ate Eva, my former boss, and I  weren’t lucky enough to score  a Meet and Greet pass for that afternoon’s event. The Meet and Greet will give a  fan a chance to have a photo op with the band. But we manage to score a signing pass, where we can have our CDs signed by Chris and the rest of the band.

Meeting Chris Carrabba, and the rest of the band, was A SURREAL EXPERIENCE. Been imagining the moment for nine years, and when it finally happened, it’s like the world moved a bit slower for a while. When it was my turn to have my CD signed, Chris greeted me with his infectious, sincere smile. I thanked him and told him I have all their albums. I was in awe that I forgot to give him a hug, Well

another reason for that is the bouncers kept on giving me this I’ll-punch-you-in-the-face-if-you-don’t-hurry-up look. I had my Alter The Ending and MTV Unplugged CD signed. While in line, the guy behind me asked why I have a blue and not the red CD like everyone else in line had. I said, with a proud look on my face, that I ordered the CD from their online store. Then the guy gave me a puzzled look, and then asked where was this. I mean, wow man, you call yourself a fan and you do not know what is the band’s official website? Hanep!

Of course, I was a bit inggit with those 40 lucky fans who were able to have their photo op with the band. It would’ve been perfect if I did, but I cannot remember having a perfect day ever, so I am thankful just the same. Plus I saw the pictures taken by the guy from Picture City (which was the official photographer of the event), the framing was really bad, hehe. So I think it’s still all good. Since we’ll never really have our chance for the photo-op, I asked Ate Eva to take a picture of me with the band as background while others are having their photo op, hehe.

Will post about the concert tomorrow. I am really sleepy and cannot keep my eyes open. Goodnight for now…

Another Long Weekend Coming Up

No comments:
That's Independence Day weekend. June 12 falls on a Saturday so the government decided declare the Monday nearest to that date a holiday. Moving dates of the holidays have been a wee bit of a habit of our dear President that's why the younger generation, the majority of them, forget the real date these important holidays are celebrated because of the evident cause of confusion. Oh well...

So it's a long weekend. Summer is over and I am pretty sure none of my colleagues will be planning a trip to the beach anytime soon since it's starting to rain. I remember a friend of mine tweeting how he regrets not basking under the sun during the summer. This coming three-day vacation would've been perfect. Spending the day at home and looking for Free Online Casino Games is not very ideal for killing time. But on second thought, we always have occasional poker nights and Vegas-themed nights here and there. Half of the office lives in the South part of Manila, while the other in the Northern part. It’s going to be a real challenge to have everyone in place for a fun night. The Free Casino Games idea isn’t as bad as I thought it would, given the circumstances that is the weather, everybody will definitely be home bound.

I found one website where they highlight the best Free Online Casino websites one can find on the web. It is a comprehensive directory of online poker, roulette, slot machines and blackjack games among others. If one is looking for a particular game, one can just key in the name of the game on their search bar for easy access. Plus, the website also features some useful tips on online casino games, it’s history and what’s the latest in the industry.

For more information about the site I discussed above, visit http://onlinecasinospotlight.com/.
