Giving Up

No comments:

I really thought I could do it. I could pull it off. But here I am raising my white flag. For 74 days I was able to sustain the project. Now, I accept that I can’t.

minions

Sometimes, the idea of having a group of minions that one can order around to do the other things that one is supposed to do is a great thing. But then, learning comes with patience, perseverance and time management. Nobody can teach one how to learn things but oneself.

A lot of chances have been lent, and for that I am eternally grateful.

I just wish I know where I stand.

Rain Boots…this summer?

2 comments:

If women's rain boots are as chic as these, I wouldn't mind wearing them, maybe once a week, even in this summer's heat. Mouse over a picture for its price:

Joules Welly Red at $74.95Rainbops JoJo Black at $39.95Kamik Olivia Charcoal, now on sale at $39.95

The black, psychedelic design have already won my heart, perfect for my skinny jeans. But this simple charcoal gray variant is also a must-have, fit for my chiffon white skirt recently bought from a vintage shop.

Completely Unexpected Tales

No comments:
Started reading Roald Dahl's Completely Unexpected Tales today. Short stories written by Dahl have always fascinate me. I am currently in the second story about a man who likes to challenge others with a bet. The man just asked an American navy boy to light one of his la flor dominicana cigars. The story is set at a hotel in Jamaica, under the night sun.

There are a lot of Dahl's collection of short stories out there that I dream of getting my hands on. Three are already on my shelf. So, 34628495006 to go?

Day 074 of 365: Pesto

Day 074 of 365

We had lunch at aVeneto in Glorietta today. I ordered Pesto with chicken and nuts.

I am thankful that my friends at the office doesn’t have any reservations when it comes to food. Treating oneself to a good meal every payday has been a tradition that has been going on for more than three years. Payday comes only twice a month, and we normally do this tradition once a month. We’ve tried almost everything from dim sum to pansit lucban to lamb chops and steaks.

I hope we visit Som’s soon. Hehe.

Day 073 of 365: Girly

Day 073 of 365

Got this new pair from a bazaar earlier today. It’s a payday Monday and I thought of buying something for myself for a change. It was originally priced at Php280 but haggled and ended up paying 250. Not bad, eh? :P

I’ll be wearing this with one of the dresses given to me by Marife and Dee over the weekend. Or I might change my mind and maybe wear it with a pair of jeans and a comfy shirt instead.

We’ll see. :D

Road Accidents

No comments:

A friend shared about his recent motorcycle accident on our way home. He had been driving his motorcycle for three years now. Confident that he’s already used to all the swerves and swivels of their neighborhood road, he thought nothing bad will happen. On the day that he forgot to wear his knee sleeves and helmet, a faster vehicle hit him. Everything happened so fast, he just found himself face to face with the gutter.

This morning I gave him a link to this site where he can get a pair of knee sleeves like this:

DonJoy Reaction Knee Brace at $99.99 each

He already got himself a helmet. But he will be able to ride his motorcycle again after he finishes his five months of therapy.

Day 072 of 365: Mommy

No comments:

Day 072 of 365

I still cannot believe my best friend is a mom now.

I got to see a different side of my Marife for the first time: her being a mom to my cutie-patootie god daughter, Iya. Her mommy duties begin as early as 5am or depending on how early Iya wakes up.  They start their day with breakfast. I was surprised to see that my dearest Iya can already walk on her own. Her mom and her grand mother (Marife’s mom) cannot leave her for even a second because she always climb the sofa or the stairs.

Iya got her father’s hair and eyes and nose; but her personality is all her mother’s. Very bright and observant, loves to sing and dance, and very charming.

Before I start perusing this magazine and some pamphlets on enzyte, let me first share with you the movies I’d like to check out in the coming weeks:

1. Red Riding Hood

Red Riding Hood

My only fear about this film is Catherine Harwicke directed it. Gary Oldman is a part of this film though, so it’s a good reason to give this one a chance.

2. Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch

First thought when I saw the trailer: gorgeous visuals.

3. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Planning to buy and read the book before watching the film. The book’s got great reviews. Saw the trailer once and was impressed.

Day 069 of 365: Sleepover

Day 069 of 365

Sleepovers are fun.

A friend of mine texted me earlier today asking me if I can come over at her condo after my shift at work. She sounded a bit upset. I already had plans to go home early but if a friend calls you at 7am in the morning asking you to drop by her place to talk, then something must’ve happened the night before.

We talked. I met her friends and that made the exchange of thoughts even more interesting that she asked me if I can stay over to talk some more.

And so I did. Meet my sleepover buddy. :D

Day 067 of 365: Three

No comments:

Day 067 of 365

Met Marife and Dee for dinner and a few beers tonight. I never thought the three of us would end up the best of friends. I met Dee when we were four and Marife when we were six. I lost touch when we reached college and was reconnected with them when we started our own ‘careers’. I often joke and refer to them as ‘popular kids’ because they were back in the day. And me, well I created my own world and sort of pulled away from the ones they’ve had.

But I am glad the three of us ended up good friends.

Discoveries

The things I discovered these past few days made me realize how _____________________ I've had been.

There are so many words I could write on the blank. There have been a lot of things that I sort of question and is still finding (and dreading) the answers to. It's funny that our last conversation was you asking me why I haven't been wearing prescription eyeglasses and then telling me that you wanted to get contact lenses – red ones, of all colors. But of course you’re kidding and I thought your eyes are beautiful. They’ve always been.

Day 051 to 066

No comments:
I finally got my laptop back. But it’s still not in its best condition. The repair guy said if it breaks down again within 90 days, they will either give me a refund or ask me to pay an addition Php5500 for a motherboard replacement :|
Here are the last 16 days I’ve had, in photos (mouse-over photo for description):
February 20, Day 051: Pwi -- It’s the wee hours of the morning, and these two can’t still get enough of each other hihi. Love them to bits. February 22, Day 053: Lolo – Saw him at the food court that day. He was taking care of his grand son. It reminded me of my Tatay Genio. February 23, Day 054: Misplaced – Spot the misplaced word. February 24, Day 055: Hapon – Another one of those breathtaking sunset while riding the bus going home :) February 25, Day 056: Remembering – The whole of Makati is adorned with yellow today. It was not declared a working holiday. February 26, Day 057: Stop – I cannot remember how long I stood and stayed at the bus stop that night. February 27, Day 058: Break – Megamall. I was on my way to the supermarket when I saw these guys taking a break. February 28, Day 059: Cart – Empty carts at the Landmark supermarket. March 01, Day 060: Kungfu – My favorite shoes. Olive calls them my Kungfu shoes. I glued its soles the that day using mighty bond. March 02, Day 061: Sugarfree – My trip to Eastwood that night wasn’t planned. But I was happy that I went and said goodbye to one of the biggest OPM bands who had their very last concert as a band. I wouldn’t be surprised that after ten or maybe just five years, they’ll be promoting their reunion concert. Hehe. March 03, Day 062: Franco – Dan and I went to Tiendesitas to watch Franco. We both like that band and we’ve been wanting to go to their gig since we started being friends. He introduced me to two of his friends (and band mates), RA and Mich, whom he invited to watch the concert with us. I, on the other hand, invited my friends’ Red and his girlfriend Gela, Karen, Donna and Patrick. We had a few drinks and chatted a bit. It was a fun night. March 04, Day 063: Fangirl – I got my CD signed by the Franco, yaaay! March 05, Day 064: Friends – I added a couple more photos on my workstation that day. :D March 06, Day 065: Manual – I cannot wait to shoot with this baby again. March 07, Day 066: Returned – (see intro)

V-Day Everyday

No comments:
Valentine's day is weeks ago, but these romantic gifts for valentines are still in demand. February 14; everyone I bumped into that day are all giggly mushy. The girls proudly walk around with a boquet on one hand and a teddy bear on the other. The guys, on the other hand, are all smiles appreciating the moment of making someone happy. Red was the day's color as every restaurant and cafes were adorned by hearts and cupids. The more one ignores it, the more it becomes obvious. It was inevitable.
